A Legacy of Faithfulness

Mendies Haven was founded by Elizabeth "Mummy" Mendies and her husband Tom "Daddy" Mendies.

Elizabeth left her hometown of Hamilton, Ontario (Canada) in 1946 as a missionary to India, where she met Tom.  They were married in Calcutta, India and moved to Kathmandu, Nepal where Tom, a pioneer of Tourism, had established the first hotel in the nation.

Elizabeth began taking in orphaned and abandoned children into their home.  Eventually, Tom closed his hotel and Elizabeth founded Mendies Haven, her home where she continued to take in and raise children till her passing in 2008.

The Mendies Haven family now includes 30 children at the home as well as hundreds of others who have grown up at the Haven and are now doing incredible works for many more.
